WELSH BORDERS STEAM SPECIAL
Departs Saturday 6 October 2012 - WELSH BORDERS STEAM SPECIAL

From : Skegness, Wainfleet, Boston, Heckington, Sleaford and Bottesford.
Join us for a nostalgic day out and enjoy the thrill of steam haulage on a circular route which takes in the lovely scenery of the Welsh Borders.
Departing Skegness around 0620 with a diesel locomotive in charge we make our way across country to the railway hub at Crewe where we detach our diesel in exchange for steam traction.
Our steam engine will take us through Chester and on to the scenic line which runs through the rolling hills of Welsh Border Country.
Passing through Wrexham, Ruabon, Chirk and Gobowen we enjoy the smells and sounds of days gone by as our locomotive works hard with its heavy load en route to the historic town of Shrewsbury where we break our journey.
Standing in a loop of the River Severn Shrewsbury is an attractive destination with its cobbled streets, half timbered buildings and pedestrianised centre all making for a pleasant break of journey.
After our visit we rejoin our steam hauled train for the return run to Crewe, this time taking the line through Whitchurch and Wrenbury, so completing a circular run.
Our diesel now rejoins the train and takes over for the return run arriving back into Sekgness around 2200.
Should our steam engine fail we will operate the tour by diesel train and refund the steam supplement of £5.00.
