Departing St Neots at 0615 (Peterborough at 0652 and Doncaster 0857) we travel behind diesel traction to York where we say goodbye to our diesel engine and make our first run behind steam retracing the route of the famous Scarborough Spa express. The smell and noise of steam power will evoke memories of the great days of rail travel as we power our way to the seaside resort of Scarborough.
We expect to break for four hours or so in Scarborough during which time our engine will be watered and turned for the run along the Wolds Coast through Filey, Bridlington and Beverley towards Hull from where we head west alongside the River Humber and under the towering suspension bridge through Selby and back to York.
After a short stop in York to change back to diesel haulage we return to our home stations expecting to arrive back into Doncaster at 2054 and St Neots at 2306.
Should our steam engine fail we will operate the tour by diesel train and refund the steam supplement of £5.00.
